The video above is only part I of a segment of Glenn Beck’s show tonight that featured a videotaped speech made by Anita Dunn: O’s appointed chief of correcting FOXNews. This clip is a good view as a warmup to the main focus of the show. If you do not want to watch all of it, you can fast forward to the 7:00 minute mark and still get the crux of Glenn’s setup. Click on the second posted video below to hear for yourselves Anita Dunn praising Mao Tse Tung and Mother Teresa. Yes, you read that correctly. You can go directly to her speech by scrolling to right about the 4:20 minute mark. I do, however, urge you to watch the entire warm up to that point of the video. Glenn plainly explains the malignate nature of Mao’s revolution.
Earlier today I listened to Hugh Hewitt play Dunn’s speech elevating Mao and Mother Teresa as her two greatest plitical philosophers. I felt anger over Dunn making such a blatant malconnect to two famous figures of the 20th century. Hewitt dutifully noted that Mother Teresa was the most notible pro-life public figure in the past century. Mao, on the other hand, was an insane killer. Hs blind pursuit of communal utopia lead to the deaths of tens of millions; and this is Anita Dunn’s inspiration?
What I did not realize listening to Hewitt was that Dunn’s speech was given to high school students in what appears to be a cathedral-like location. There’s even a large cross clearly visible in the video. The cross to me, as I think should to everyone, represents sacrifice for others by the one being who held perfect love for all. It does not represent distinguishing social classes. It does not mean dominance over your fellow man. And it absolutely does not represent inflicting brutality upon other people. The summary of Mother Teresa’s works represent the meaning of the cross. Giving to others. Clothing the naked. Feeding the hungry. And giving to the poor unconditionally. Elevating Mao to the same level of inspiration as Mother Teresa I find blasphemous. Like all people, especally myself, I pray for both souls: Mao’s and Mother Teresas’. I desire both to receive all of God’s grace; but their works on earth were as different as night and day. One slaughtered; the other healed. One was lead by hate and predjudice; the other by unconditional love and forgiveness. One was constituted by pride and superiority; the other by humility and meekness. One was an utmost failure; the other a success too great to fully measure. I truly do not understand Anita Dunn’s perception that these two figures should be equated.
(A big thanks to the watchdog who drove from DC to provide this video taped speech to Glenn and for Glenn to air it and to talk about it bodly. Another thanks to blogger Texanadian from whom I first learned of the nature of Glenn’s program tonight.)
